Plug Wallet 2024: A Year of Progress and a Look Ahead

As we close out 2024, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what has been an incredible year for Plug Wallet. While 2023 focused on rebuilding the core infrastructure and codebase for both the extension and mobile app, 2024 marked a shift towards growth. This year, we prioritized adding new features, ensuring stability, fixing bugs, and creating systems to support and engage with our users.

Thanks to these efforts, Plug Wallet has solidified its position as the leading wallet on the Internet Computer (ICP). Here’s a recap of what we’ve accomplished in 2024:

2024 Achievements

  • Enhanced Analytics: Early in the year, we introduced token price analytics, NFT tracking, etc, offering users greater visibility and control over their assets.
  • Optimized Swap Experience: With our new swap aggregator, Plug Wallet now integrates all major DEXs on ICP, ensuring users get the best prices and liquidity for their token swaps.
  • Multi-Chain Expansion: Through Chainfusion technology, Plug Wallet became a true multi-chain wallet. Users can natively hold ERC-20 tokens, Bitcoin, and Solana. Additionally, chain key (ck) minters were integrated, allowing users to mint chain key tokens directly into their wallets without the need of external tools or wallets.
  • Mobile Browser Launch: One of our most requested features went live this year—a mobile browser enabling users to sign in and interact with any ICP dApp directly from their iOS or Android devices, with no additional work required from dApp developers.
  • Improved Security: Security was a major focus in 2024. Plug Wallet underwent a comprehensive code audit, and all identified vulnerabilities were successfully fixed, ensuring the highest level of protection for our users.
  • Notification System: A new notification feature was introduced on the mobile app, enabling users to receive alerts whenever they receive a transaction, enhancing convenience and accessibility.
  • Community Airdrops: As a token of appreciation, we conducted multiple airdrop campaigns, including a $50,000 worth of ckBTC to our active users.
  • Standards Leadership: Plug Wallet played a key role in the Wallet Standard Group, collaborating with the Dfinity Foundation and NFID to integrate new wallet signer standards for the ICP ecosystem.
  • Support System: We introduced a new support page with an extensive FAQ and live chat functionality, supported by a dedicated team to assist users in real-time.

Looking Ahead to 2025

While 2024 was a year of growth and progress, we’re setting even more ambitious goals for 2025. Here’s what’s on the horizon:

  • Major Mobile Update (Q1 2025): We’re addressing technical debt in the mobile app, ensuring that all features available on the extension will also be accessible on mobile. This includes resolving known bugs in the Android app. Expect a significant update in the first quarter of 2025.
  • UI/UX Redesign: Following the mobile update, we’ll focus on a comprehensive redesign to enhance user experience and create consistency between the extension and mobile app.
  • Wallet Connect Integration: As part of our continued multi-chain expansion, Plug Wallet will introduce Wallet Connect features in 2025. This will enable users to connect and sign into Solana and Ethereum ecosystems using Plug Wallet.
  • Web Wallet Launch: A web-based version of the wallet is on our roadmap, offering users even greater flexibility in managing their assets.
  • New Authentication Methods: We’re planning to expand authentication options for extension users, including support for multiple seed phrases, hardware wallets, and a seed phrase-less mode with passkey-based authentication.
  • ICP Innovations: We’ll continue integrating the latest features and advancements from the Internet Computer ecosystem to keep Plug Wallet at the forefront of innovation.
